Alex was absolutely unhinged this show. The first time he stopped was because an usher was showing some late people to their seat and in the middle of his mental breakdown that the Maitlands cause, he says he's gonna wait for these people to find their seats. The poor usher was right in front of me with his head in his hands, looking like he regrets life. The second time was in Act 2. He pointed to someone and goes (in the Beetlejuice voice) “this guy gets it… put your mask up”. Imagine being called out by Beetlejuice. He got a round of applause obviously. It was the best part of the whole show. Also Elizabeth is really growing into her character. She did absolutely amazing! “Home” made me cry so hard.

Opening performance of the show, There were a few mishaps including Jerry announcing Violet as the 4th winner instead of the 3rd, few props falling and a delay in turning off a microphone so you could hear whoever's mic it was muttering 'sorry', But the most noticeable was Wonka's mic giving out right at the start of When Willy met Oompa. The back up mic did turn on but it was very muffled. The nutcracker scene was delayed (probably because they tried to change the mic) and during Veruca's Nutcracker Daniel left the stage, He wasn't back by the end of the song, which created a bit of confusion on stage, and said his lines from the wings while they were finishing changing the mic

This was an amazing choice for a first Broadway show! The company gives stellar performances with special mentions to J. Quinton Johnson's perfect balance of fiery, youthful passion with the more serious, preoccupied, delicate moments; as well as to Gregory Treco's reflective, quietly intensifying portrayal. Kyle Scatliffe and Fergie L. Philipe play off of each other's energy nicely, and Tamar Greene's vocals are excellent! Enthusiastic cheers can often be heard from the master and her mother (as well as the master singing along with the audience during the end of "You'll Be Back"), and her parents' occasional brief commentary may have been picked up as well
